Off-roading and Pentecost: Easy video travel memories

This past weekend was Pentecost, and it reminded me of some fun projects I did from my travels, so I wanted to share this idea…

Easy video travel memories

I’ve talked in the past about how much I enjoy enrichment opportunities on cruise lines, and in particular about the ‘film making’ course I took on a Crystal Cruise many years ago. I learned how to make videos on the iMovie application that comes free on an iPad (and iPhone) and I wanted to share this idea because it’s a lot of fun and a great way to enjoy some of your past travels.

If you have an iPad or iPhone and you’ve never played with iMovie before, there is a super easy way to get started. The trailer option is like a movie preview format and all you do is simply select a few of your photos and add some text comments and, boom, you have this entertaining short video with highlights of a place or experience. Here’s the first one that I made while I was on my cruise learning about iMovie.

Once you get familiar with the application, then you can start combining pictures and video and adding audio and background music. Again, it’s really very simple and a convenient way to take the highlights of a trip and make a special memory.

About nine years ago I hosted a group on a cruise from Rome to Venice. My mom accompanied me and we spent a few extra days in Rome before embarking. One of the highlights of my life is going to the Pantheon in Rome for the Pentecost Mass – you need to watch the video to find out why it’s so special.

If you’ve got an iPad or an iPhone, iMovie is already there waiting on you to invent something fun – take some of your old travel pictures and create a unique memory.
