MONDAY AUGUST 4, 2025: LISBON | FADO DINNER SHOW
This morning, arrive at Lisbon's cruise terminal where you’ll disembark the elegant Wind Surf and meet your knowledgeable guide. Begin your journey in Belém, home to the exquisite Monastery of Jeronimos, the iconic Tower of Belém, and the evocative Monument to the Discoveries. These landmarks are not just architectural marvels but also stand as testaments to Portugal's age of exploration.
We then delve into Lisbon’s oldest district: the Alfama. This enchanting neighborhood dates back to the Moorish era, long before the Christian "Re-Conquest" of the Iberian Peninsula. Meander through its labyrinthine alleyways and feel transported to a time when Alfama was the heart of this illustrious city.
Next, embark on a walking tour through the heart of Lisbon, exploring the Baixa district, known as the historic and financial core, and the chic Chiado neighborhood, with its upscale shops and boutiques. The differences between them are what deck the stateroom category is located on, and which location in the ship, either forward or aft, or midship. Category B and BX are on deck 1, with B staterooms forward or aft, and BX staterooms midship. Category A and AX are on Deck 2, with A staterooms forward or aft, and AX staterooms midship. - Do I need the all inclusive drink package?
The All Inclusive package includes wifi and the Unlimited Drink Package, all domestic and imported beer, 33 varieties of wine or sparkling wine by the glass, plus cordials, liqueurs, aperitifs, cocktails. It also includes select specific spirits you'd like in your in-suite refrigerator. If you enjoy wine with dinner and perhaps a couple of cocktails in the lounge before or after dinner, you may find the All-Inclusive drink package a convenient and easy option to simplify your own-board experience.
Alternatively, you can order beer, wine and cocktails individually to be charged to your room, and which will be the drink cost plus the standard 18% beverage service charge.
Most non-alcoholic beverages, including specialty tea and coffee creations, and zero-proof cocktails, are complementary on the ship.
- How does the All-Inclusive Drink Package work onboard?
It's quite lovely the way they handle it. While they will give you a sticker for your key card, you really never need it. When you place a drink order, the server will ask your room number. They will look it up and see you have the All Inclusive package, and will just bring you your drink - you don't need to show your card and there is no drink receipt to sign.
- What about gratuities on the trip?
You do not need to plan on any tipping during any of the arrangements in this cruise-land package. The costs of gratuities onboard the ship have already been handled, as have the gratuities for the tours for our pre-cruise stay in Barcelona, post-cruise arrangements in Lisbon, and our exclusive shore excursion to Granada and Alhambra.

Yes, we will be offering an optional extension to visit Santiago de Compostela after we conclude in Lisbon. These arrangements are still in development and will be announced by the beginning of August.
- Can I invite family members and friends who are not part of the parish?
Yes, family members are welcome to join the pilgrimage as long as they also complete the registration process and agree to the terms of the pilgrimage.
- Do I need to book my own flights?
You are free to make your own flight arrangements, but we will also offer group air options in October 2024 once flight schedules are available.
- If I book my own flights, what dates and flight schedules should I look for?
The tour will begin in Barcelona on July 26, 2025, which means if you are looking to depart from the US directly to the tour start date, you should look at a schedule that departs from the US on Friday, July 25, 2025, with the destination of Barcelona, Spain. The tour will end in Lisbon, Portugal on August 6, 2025.
- Can I arrive a few days earlier or stay after the tour?
Yes, you can choose to arrive 1-2 days before the tour or stay afterward. You can also consider tying this trip to other travel, like a river cruise or visiting another destination. Let us know and we can assist with these arrangements.
- Is travel insurance included?
Travel insurance is not included. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance, and we will be sending a travel insurance quote after your registration.
- How will I receive updates about the trip?
We have an always-available Trip Essentials webpage with all the details and any new updates. We will send the particulars about that a few weeks after registration. We will also share information periodically prior to the trip. During the last two months, we will send a weekly newsletter to thoroughly prepare you for the pilgrimage.
