Itinerary

SUNDAY, JUNE 29, 2025: UNITED STATES TO SHANNON IRELAND

Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight* across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to start your vacation.

MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2025: ARRIVE IN IRELAND | KNOCK SHRINE

Ireland Knock Shrine

After customs and immigration formalities at Shannon Airport, your CIE Tours guide and driver will welcome you to Ireland and take you to your motorcoach.

Depart Shannon and drive north toward County May. Stop at a local restaurant for lunch and your first experience with the fabulous Irish hospitality.

Continue on to the pilgrimage town of Knock to visit Knock Shrine, one of the world's leading shrines, where the Virgin Mary appeared to 15 people in 1879. Today it is a Church-approved Marian pilgrimage destination, with over 1.5 million pilgrims visiting the Shrine annually. Explore the beautiful grounds and gardens at Knock Shrine and learn the story of this sacred site. We will have Mass while at the Shrine.

The Story of Knock in East Mayo began on the evening of August 21,1879, when people whose ages ranged from five years to seventy-five and included men, women, teenagers, and children, witnessed what they claimed was an apparition of Our Lady, St Joseph, and St John the Evangelist at the south gable end of the local small parish church, the Church of St John the Baptist. Behind them and a little to the left of St John was a plain altar. On the altar was a cross and a lamb (a traditional image of Jesus, as reflected in the religious phrase "The Lamb of God") with adoring angels.

Continue on to Galway, Ireland's Cultural Heart! As we explore this lively city, you'll see why the historic Claddagh ring, a symbol of love, loyalty, and friendship, calls Galway its home. Known for its vibrant arts scene and lively festivals, Galway proudly holds the designation of a UNESCO City of Film. Get ready to soak in the artistic and cinematic charm of this enchanting city. Check into your hotel where you will have free time before dinner. After settling in, enjoy dinner in your hotel. (L & D)

Late this afternoon, depart Galway and drive west through County Galway to Loughrea, which means "town of the grey lake". Loughrea sits on the shore on Loughrea Lake, and St. Brendan's Catholic Cathedral is arguably one of the country's greatest contributions to European art of the twentieth century. Loughrea also happens to be Monsignor Frank's hometown.

Monsignor Frank will celebrate Mass today to mark 30 years as a priest, in the church where he was ordained. Afterward we'll have a celebration reception in a local establishment. Return to your Galway hotel after a fun evening in Loughrea. (B & D)

Tour elegant rooms in the mansion, explore the beautiful small Gothic church set beside a tranquil lake, and stroll through the 6-acre, magical Victorian Walled Garden. Learn of the tales of tragedy and romance, royal visits, and the Abbey's former role as a boarding school. For California Residents: We are a registered Seller of Travel in the State of California (CST 2103869-40). Registration as a Seller of Travel does not constitute approval by the State of California. We are not a participant in the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund. California law requires certain sellers of travel to have a trust account, and we have a trust account at Bank of America. Upon cancellation of the transportation or travel services, where the guest is not at fault and has not canceled in violation of any terms and conditions previously clearly and conspicuously disclosed and agreed to by the guest, all sums paid to Tour Operator for services not provided will be promptly paid to the guest, unless the guest advises Tour Operator in writing, after cancellation. This provision does not apply where Recess 4 Grownups has remitted the payment to another registered wholesale seller of travel or a carrier, without obtaining a refund, and where the wholesaler or provider defaults in providing the agreed-upon transportation or service. In this situation, Recess 4 Grownups will provide the guest with a written statement accompanied by bank records establishing the disbursement of the payment, and if disbursed to a wholesale seller of travel, proof of current registration of that wholesaler.

PRICING AND RESERVATIONS USING OUR GROUP AIR CONTRACT:

We have a block of seats reserved with Delta at a guaranteed price. The seats will be assigned after final payment in March. We cannot guarantee seat location because it will be based on availability at the time, but we usually do a pretty good job of allocating seats once we have ticketed the reservations.

Main Cabin/Coach: The current coach price, valid for both the regular travel departure date of June 29, 2025, and also the ‘leave a day early’ option departing on June 28, 2025:

$1,912 per person if both flight deposit and flight final paid by check; $1972 per person paid with credit card.

= $200 per person deposit to hold your space on the flights {deposit from November 6 through February 27 or until all space is reserved, whichever occurs first}. Deposit is non-refundable.

= Balance due March 5 with land tour balance. Flight costs are non-refundable after March 5.

Premium Select: We will get a rate for Premium Select but we are still waiting on Delta to provide the updated contract, so we’ll send that pricing information once it’s available. If you are interested in this option, we expect to have it available in about a week, and we’ll add this option and pricing on the reservation form. The deposit for Premium Select seats will be $600 per person, non-refundable.

Economy Comfort: Delta does not allow us to include Economy Comfort seats in our contract, so those must be booked independently.

The group flight arrives at Shannon Airport on the morning of Monday, June 30. The land tour starts from the airport at the time the group air flight arrives, whether it is on time, early or late. If you are making your flight arrangements on the same flights as the group, you will be set to set out for the tour.

If you are making your own flight arrangements that are different from the group air flights offered, you are responsible for being at Shannon Airport to meet the group, as the tour will depart from the airport when the group air flight arrives whether it is on time, early or late. If you are delayed in meeting the group at the Shannon Airport, you will be responsible for the arrangements and costs of joining the group tour at the lunch location (1-1.5 hour away) or the Galway hotel (1.5 hours away) by making and paying for your own transfers.

The transfer to Dublin Airport on July 9, 2025, will be provided based on the time of the scheduled group air flight.
