FOR ALL GUESTS

This afternoon we will embark our ship and settle in. After a sumptuous lunch in Veranda, maybe sun yourself on deck, take a dip in the whirlpool, or order a cheese plate for your stateroom or suite. Perhaps you’ll begin your trip with a relaxing massage in World Spa by Windstar. Or maybe an invigorating workout in the Fitness Center. Even better, why not both? After dinner, dance to live music in the Lounge. This is your yacht, so of course you’re welcome on the Bridge, where the Captain and officers are delighted to share charts, routes, and vistas with you.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

SATURDAY AUGUST 24, 2024: SURTSEY ISLAND | HEIMAEY ISLAND

Take a boat tour to view Surtsey Island, which only rose from the sea in the 1960s and has been a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site since its birth. The other big attraction here is seabirds. Zodiac tours provide close up views of seabird populated sea cliffs including the largest colony of Atlantic Puffins.

Witness a world still in transition. Next up, Heimaey, where a volcanic eruption created a modern-day Pompeii in 1973.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

SUNDAY AUGUST 25, 2024: SEYDISFJORDUR

Rugged and remote East Iceland is feathered with fjords and fishing villages, but few are as beautiful as Seydisfjordur. During our complimentary Destination Discovery Event, you’ll get a rare insider’s look at both local landmarks and the culture of this small Icelandic community.

Located in the East Fjords between steep mountains, the settlement grew up in the late 1800s around the Norwegian herring fishery. Many of the colorful old timbered houses were imported from Norway by wealthy merchants and whalers. Perhaps the most remarkable building, though, is the Blue Church.

With clean, Scandinavian lines and a beautiful glacier blue color, the church is one of Iceland’s most recognizable landmarks. It was moved or rebuilt a few times over the years before finding its permanent home in Seydisfjordur in 1922. (Sometimes intentionally and sometimes at the whim of Mother Nature, through storms and fire.) Leading up to the church is the vibrantly colored Rainbow Street presenting a scene worthy of a fairytale.

During your exclusive Destination Discovery Event, you’ll enter the church to find it’s as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. In this idyllic setting you’ll be treated to an exclusive cultural performance by local entertainers. The singer and guitarist are natives of East Iceland and they’ll entertain you with stories and songs they grew up with. From tales of ghosts, elves and trolls to joyful songs and ballads about lost sailors, you’ll get a feel for the real Iceland and its people.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

MONDAY AUGUST 26, 2024: SEYDISFJORDUR

Seydisfjord is 11 miles of long, narrow, beautiful waterway surrounded by high mountains that ends at the town of Seydisfjordur, known for its old multi-colored wooden buildings and cascading waterfalls even in the town. This is the home of Skalanes Nature Reserve with its wide variety of wildlife including more than 45 bird species. The first high-voltage electricity in Iceland was opened here in 1913 and is still in operation today. A popular hiking path starts at the town center, following the east bank of the Fjardara River that flows through the center of town.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

TUESDAY AUGUST 27, 2024: AKUREYRI

Akureyri is an important port and fisheries center especially because of its ice-free harbor so close to the Arctic Circle. It lies at the end of Iceland's longest fjord, which is 37 miles long, and sits at the base of snowcapped peaks that offer some of Iceland's best skiing during the winter. Must-sees in Akureyri include the Listagil (art canyon) which is home to many arts and crafts galleries and shops, the beautiful church in the center of town, the botanical garden, and Hafnarstraeti, the main shopping street. This is also the perfect place to ride an Icelandic horse or soak in the sky-blue Myvatn Nature Baths.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28, 2024:  ISAFJORDUR

Small and easily walkable Isafjordur has one of the largest fisheries in Iceland. But the severe decline of the fishing industry has caused Isafjordur to look elsewhere for work. Despite its small size, this town has a school of music and has become a center for alternative music and they host a yearly festival for local musicians and bands from around Iceland and the world to perform.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

THURSDAY AUGUST 29, 2024: GRUNDARFJORDUR

Beautiful Grundarfjordur is located between a mountain range and the sea.  The road nearby crosses a lava field that is partially warm so snow does not always stick there. The main attraction of the area is Snæfellsjokull National Park full of regal glaciers, lava fields, waterfalls, caves, calderas, and basalt cliffs. The peninsula there received the EARTHCHECK Sustainable Community Award in 2010, the first area in Iceland to win such an award.

OVERNIGHT: Windstar Star Pride

FRIDAY AUGUST 30, 2024: REYKJAVIK DISEMBARKATION | RETURN FLIGHT HOME

Disembark in Reykjavik and transfer to the airport for your flight home to the United States.

Ship Deck Plan

Star Pride is large enough to pamper and entertain you, yet small enough to tuck into delightful tiny harbors and hidden coves that others can’t reach.

This all-suite yacht completed renovation as part of the $250 Star Plus Initiative to provide more of what our guests love. New public areas, including two new dining venues, a new spa, infinity pool, and fitness area. The yacht also boasts all new bathrooms in every suite and a new category of Star suites, featuring a new layout. With ocean views and at least 277 square feet of comfort, Star Pride is the perfect yacht to watch glaciers and fjords drift by from the serenity of your suite.

Carrying only 312 guests, Star Pride still tucks into small ports like Sanary-sur-Mer and Seville or narrow waterways like the Corinth and Keil Canal. We can’t wait to welcome you on board for your next 180 degree from ordinary adventure!

FAQ

What are the differences between all these stateroom categories?

All of the Ocean View and Balcony staterooms are the same size, 277 square feet, with a very spacious feeling layout. The staterooms that include 'Star' in the name means that the bed is closer to the window or balcony, with the living area closer to the door. For those categories that don't include the word 'Star' in the name, it means the bed is closer to the door and the living area is closer to the window or balcony.

Beyond that, the difference between similarly named categories is the deck location. For example, Ocean View Suite 1 is on deck 4, Ocean View Suite 2 is on deck 5, Ocean View Suite 3 is on deck 6.

Do I need the all inclusive drink package??

The All Inclusive package is complimentary with our group, so you really don't have to decide. You can enjoy a variety of cocktails or beer or wine at any time of the day, and also select specific spirits you'd like in your in-suite refrigerator.

How does the All-Inclusive Drink Package work onboard?

It's quite lovely the way they handle it. While they will give you a sticker for your key card, you really never need it. When you place a drink order, the server will ask your room number. They will look it up and see you have the All Inclusive package, and will just bring you your drink - you don't need to show your card and there is no drink receipt to sign.

What do we need to do to reserve this trip?

Click on the 'Click Here to Register' button to complete your registration and pay your deposit online with credit card.

What else is needed to reserve this trip?

We'll need your passport details to handle some of your arrangements. To provide your passport, the easiest thing to do is to use your phone to take a picture of the information page of your passport (the page with your picture, passport number, expiration date, etc), and then forward the passport image to passports@recess4grownups.com.

Do we need a visa?

No, you do not need a visa to visit Iceland. However, your passport must be valid for at least three (3) months (6 months is strongly recommended) after the scheduled return date to your home country.

What about international flights?

The costs of international flights are not included in the trip cost. We'll assist you with looking at the flight options that best fit your preferences.
