Itinerary

Itinerary

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30: DEPART US TO BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight to Budapest. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service on board.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1: ARRIVE IN BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Arrive in Budapest. After completing customs and immigration formalities, you will be met and transferred to the Intercontinental Budapest Hotel.

At 4:00pm meet in the lobby, and the group proceeds to St. Stephens Basilica, one of the most beautiful and significant churches and touristic attractions of the country. This is partly due to its historical heritage, of being dedicated to the holy king St Stephen who was also the founder of the Hungarian state, and partly to the architectural and artistic value of the building itself.

We'll celebrate Mass in the Basilica's chapel and have a guided tour of the church and treasury.

This evening enjoy authentic Hungarian cuisine in the heart of the city at a favorite bistro. Try local favorites such as langos, hortobágyi, goulash, and chicken paprikash in this quaint hidden gem. (Dinner)

OVERNIGHT: Classic Room with Danube River View, Intercontinental Budapest Hotel, Budapest

MONDAY, OCTOBER 2: BENEDICTINE ARCHABBEY OF PANNONHALMA

This morning we'll depart Budapest to explore a beautiful region and a UNESCO World Heritage Abbey.

Visit the Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma, a medieval religious complex, one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary, founded in the 10th century and the second largest territorial abbey in the world. The main attraction is the basilica built in the 13th century, recently restored by British star architect John Pawson, the cloisters, the monumental library with 360000 volumes, the baroque refectory, and the art collection. With its Natural Environment the Archabbey is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Today there are about 50 monks living in the monastery. We'll celebrate Mass at the Archabbey.

In Pannonhalma the Benedictine order operates schools, farms, a restaurant, a winery, a brewery and a distillery of fine herbs and lavender. These businesses provide a stable economic background for more than a millennia. We'll visit the herb garden and taste samples of their products.

We'll have a private lunch at the Abbey, which is a rare treat to eat in one of the historic rooms in the Abbey.

After our visit in Pannonhalma, we'll return to Budapest late afternoon.

This evening we depart for a special dinner. Experience the delicious foods and drinks that make Hungary’s food culture so unique at our exclusive event at a charming wine cellar located in a historic 19th-century palace in Budapest's Palace District. Our private chef will create a multi-course wine dinner, with each menu item selected to pair with a curated selection of wines, and our sommelier will present the wines in an engaging and educational way.  (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

The market is a vibrant space with multiple levels filled with stalls selling a variety of foods, including paprika, a must-buy when in Budapest. Docking positions at each port are assigned by local authorities. River cruise companies have no control over where they can dock. This can sometimes result in double-docking when more than one ship is assigned to the same dock and the ships are rafted together, temporarily obstructing the view. When double-docked you might be required to pass through another vessel to embark or disembark. In those cases, you will have to follow the instructions given by the Master or the crew of the vessel you will pass through. The Company (or the tour operator if applicable) will not be responsible for any inconvenience or injury sustained as a consequence of embarking or disembarking not under the direct control of The Company (or the tour operator if applicable) for reasons of such assignment.

Additional risks and dangers may arise including, but not limited to, hazards of travel by train, automobile, motor coach, aircraft and other means of conveyance, animal interactions, swimming, forces of nature, political unrest, other unrest, risks associated with water, food, plants, insects and differing animal regulation, and acts of national and local governments and unrest and acts of others against governments. These risks are not an exhaustive list but are examples of many kinds of risks. You are voluntarily participating in these activities with the knowledge that there may be dangers involved, and you hereby agree to accept any and all risks. As lawful consideration for the agreement with Recess 4 Grownups to participate in such trips and activities you agree you will not make a claim against Recess 4 Grownups, its related companies or its personnel or sue for bodily injury, emotional trauma, death, property loss or damage or other loss, cost or expense, however caused, as a result of or related to your contracting for, traveling to or from, or in any and every other way participating in the trip. You release Recess 4 Grownups, its related companies and its personnel from any and all claims, known or unknown, arising from contracting for, traveling to or from, and in any and every way participating in a trip. This release of liability and assumption of risk agreement is entered into on behalf of you and all members of your family and party, also including minors. This agreement also binds your heirs, legal representatives and assigns.

This provision does not apply where Recess 4 Grownups has remitted the payment to another registered wholesale seller of travel or a carrier, without obtaining a refund, and where the wholesaler or provider defaults in providing the agreed-upon transportation or service. In this situation, Recess 4 Grownups will provide the guest with a written statement accompanied by bank records establishing the disbursement of the payment, and if disbursed to a wholesale seller of travel, proof of current registration of that wholesaler.
